3D Secure™ is like a Chip & PIN for your online purchases—designed to protect you by asking a secret password and a personal message. Developed by Visa and MasterCard and used by most retailers, it has rapidly become a widely accepted level of protection when shopping online.

Quick and easy registration

Registering involves a quick, one–time process. Simply log on to Verified by VisaTM or MasterCard® SecureCode™, register your secret password, create your personal message and you're done. The next time you shop online using your credit card, you'll be automatically prompted for your secret password during checkout. A secured screen will also appear with your personal message so you know it is your bank that is asking for your password.

Please note you may also be prompted to register whilst shopping at any participating online retailer site. Again, a secured screen will appear during checkout and you'll be asked to follow the same simple and safe registration steps.

What is MasterCard® SecureCode™?

MasterCard SecureCode is a service to enhance your existing MasterCard account. A private code means added protection against unauthorized use of your card when you shop at participating online retailers.

How does MasterCard SecureCode work?

Once you've registered and created your own private SecureCode, you will be automatically prompted by your card provider at checkout to provide your SecureCode each time you make a purchase with a participating online merchant. Your SecureCode is quickly confirmed by your card provider and then your purchase is completed. Your SecureCode will never be shared. It's just like entering your PIN at an ATM.

How does MasterCard SecureCode protect me?

When you correctly enter your SecureCode during a purchase at a participating online merchant, you confirm that you are the authorized cardholder and your purchase is then completed. If an incorrect SecureCode is entered, the purchase will not be completed. Even if someone knows your credit or debit card number, the purchase cannot be completed without your SecureCode at a participating merchant.

What card do I use? Will I need to get a new card to use MasterCard SecureCode?

You will be able to use any of your existing MasterCard credit or debit cards, as long as the cards are from a participating bank. If you're not sure if your bank provides this service, please review our list of participating banks. If you don't see your bank listed, check back frequently as the list is updated.

Enrollment is at the account level so the password must be shared.

Because there's no special software to install, you can shop from any computer that has an internet connection and still receive the added protection afforded by MasterCard SecureCode.

What happens when my card expires or my billing information changes?

Your card issuer will automatically update this information in your profile.

What happens if I cancel my existing card then get a new one with a different account number?

You will need to register the new card for MasterCard SecureCode. Simply return to the registration site, and complete the registration process with your new card.

What happens when I use my SecureCode on awear.com?

There is no need to login or sign in. When you make a purchase on awear.com and enter your registered MasterCard payment details, you will automatically be prompted by your bank to enter your SecureCode. After reviewing the details of your purchase and confirming that your Personal Greeting is correct, simply type in your SecureCode to complete your purchase.

What is a Personal Greeting?

The Personal Greeting is a message that you create during sign-up. Each time you make an online purchase at awear.com, you will be prompted to enter your SecureCode. At this time, you'll see your Personal Greeting and other purchase details. The Personal Greeting is your assurance that you are communicating with your bank. If the Personal Greeting displayed in the pop-up box is incorrect, you should not enter your SecureCode, but should instead contact Customer Service immediately by calling the phone number on the back of your enrolled MasterCard card, to report a possible fraud.

What are the Secret Question and Answer?

If you forget your SecureCode when making an online purchase, you will be supplied with your Secret Question. If you then supply the correct Answer, your purchase will be completed. Once your purchase is completed, you should visit the registration site, click on the "Forgot SecureCode" link and follow the subsequent instructions.

How will SecureCode change the online purchase process?

The online purchase process will not change except that now you will be prompted to provide your SecureCode during checkout. Your SecureCode will never be revealed to awear.com during the checkout process.

Will I be able to make purchases at merchants that accept MasterCard but do not participate in the MasterCard SecureCode program?

Yes, you will not be asked for your SecureCode during these purchases. You will continue to be protected from unauthorized purchases by Zero Liability from MasterCard.

Using MasterCard SecureCode provides added security to prevent your card from unauthorized use. Exceptions apply.* Zero Liability provides coverage if your card has been used fraudulently.

What do I need to do to use Verified by Visa?

All you need to do is activate your card. Then, whenever you submit an order at awear.com, a Verified by Visa window will appear automatically. Enter your password, submit, and that's it. If you have not yet activated your Visa card, just enter the authentication information when prompted by your card issuer and create a password. Once activated, your Visa card number cannot be used without your personal password for online purchases. Verified by Visa is available for most Visa cards from participating issuers.1

Yes, Verified by Visa is designed to protect the Visa card, or cards, that you already have - whether they are credit cards or debit cards. To see whether Verified by Visa is available for your card, Activate now and enter your card number in the activate field.

I received notice from my Visa card issuer that my card has been activated for Verified by Visa. What does this mean?

Some Visa card issuers provide additional security by initiating activation for you. Just follow the instructions provided by your card issuer, and start shopping with added safety and confidence.

Can I use Verified by Visa if I share a Visa card number with other family members?

Yes, you can. Some issuers require each person on your Visa account to activate his or her individual card and create a personal Verified by Visa password. Other issuers activate the card for you, in which case all account holders use the same password. Either way, your password is secure, and all of you will enjoy the peace of mind of having Verified by Visa protecting your information.

Can I use Verified by Visa from any computer?

Verified by Visa works with just about any computer that's connected to the Internet. There is no special software to install. Once you activate your card, you'll continue to shop as usual, and your Visa card number will be automatically recognized at checkout. How do I shop on awear.com with Verified by Visa?

When you pay with your Visa card, the Verified by Visa service launches automatically. After you enter your Visa card number and submit your order, a Verified by Visa window will appear and your card issuer will display an authentication page. Enter your information and password and click submit. Once your identity is verified, your checkout continues.

What is a Personal Message?

Your Personal Message, selected during activation, appears automatically in the Verified by Visa password screen during checkout. It's an extra piece of validation to assure you that this is, indeed, an authentic Verified by Visa window and that it's safe to enter your password here. You should always check to see that your Personal Message appears correctly.

What if I forget my password?

Just click the "Forgot your password" link in the Verified by Visa password window and follow the instructions provided by your Visa card issuer. Always be sure to keep your password safe and never write it down.

What should I do if someone has obtained my Verified by Visa password or has used it to make a fraudulent purchase?

If you ever suspect that a fraudulent purchase has been made using your Visa account, contact your Visa card issuer immediately.
